Speaking In Tongues is a DIY indie-rock music project lead by Alex Profera. Started in his hometown of Staten Island, NY in 2007 and refined on the Purchase College & Westchester music scene by playing shows with an array of musicians from the university and local area. Antarctican Apathy is the sophomore follow up EP to the previous "The Pharaoh's Dance", and interesting meld of indie & prog rock. With a more solid direction and cohesive aesthetic Alex has forged an entirely self created indie-rock gem by throwing doo-wop, punk, and pop into the mix. Now involved in the Bushwick/Ridgewood NY DIY scene, the band features drummer Steve Levine and Alex Truitt on bass. The album has been written up in various sources including UK blog Sonic Masala, Kode Magazine, and featured on The Hype Machine.

lyrics

We approach a mirage in the distance
my goggles are fogged up but it's definitely not there
we got our picks and we went away like a chain gang

I miss the sand dunes
I miss your truck
I miss the road
I miss your folks
I miss the ocean
I miss your dog

You me with a gift to capture any images I wanted
You me with some memories in my book but now I'm haunted
You left behind without a trail of silence behind you

But one night
in the tent
you got in touch
you saw April's issue of "The Explorer's League" and you liked it
seeing Misty cross the ice valley
and that was the last transmission
